In the morning of March 27, 2026, a delegation of six members led by Ms. Kim Hwayoon, Director of the Collection Development Department at the Busan Metropolitan Simin Library, visited the Shanghai Library on Huaihai Road. Mr. Xue Feng, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, had a meeting with the foreign guests in the VIP room on the second floor.
Deputy Director Xue first introduced the development of the Shanghai Library. Subsequently, Mr. Luo Tianyu, Deputy Director of the Cooperation and Exchange Office, presented the "Window of Shanghai" project. Director Kim Hwayoon stated that the main purpose of this visit was to learn from and draw inspiration from the development concepts of the Shanghai Library. She noted that the Shanghai Library East was even more impressive than she had imagined, and that understanding its operations would be very helpful for the development of Busan Metropolitan Simin Library. She expressed hope for further strengthening friendly cooperation between the two institutions in the future, and sincerely looked forward to Deputy Director Xue’s visiting of the Busan Metropolitan Simin Library for exchanges later this year.
After the meeting, Deputy Director Xue accompanied the delegation on a visit to the Ancient Books Restoration Room and Reading Rooms of the library.
