In the afternoon of August 30, 2025, Mr. Park Geon-gyun, Director of the International Cooperation Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, leading a delegation of four, visited the Shanghai Library East. They were accompanied by staff from the Asia-Oceania Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. Xu Qiang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, welcomed Director Park and his delegation at the reception room on the 7th floor of the Library East, noting that this was their second visit shortly after one year.
During the meeting, Deputy Director Xu provided an overview of the overall development of the Library East and its recent special thematic exhibitions. Director Park expressed his deep impression of the Library East and looked forward to potential collaboration between the Shanghai Library and the Gyeonggi Provincial Public Library, which is scheduled to open in November this year. He emphasized the importance of promoting exchanges and mutual learning between librarians from both institutions. The Gyeonggi Provincial Public Library plans to donate over 100 books across 30 categories to the Shanghai Library. Additionally, the Governor of Gyeonggi Province is expected to visit the Shanghai Library East to attend the book donation ceremony. Director Park stated that this donation would further enhance cooperation and exchanges between the two libraries, creating a win-win outcome. Following the meeting, Director Park and his delegation toured the "Millennium Promise" thematic exhibition and the third-floor Reading Plaza at the Library East.
