In the afternoon of September 25, 2025, a 15-member delegation led by Mr. Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, visited the Shanghai Library East. Mr. Xu Qiang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, extended a warm welcome to Governor Kim and his delegation on behalf of the library.
The Shanghai-Gyeonggi-do Book Donation Ceremony was held in Meeting Room 1 of the Library East. Deputy Director Xu Qiang expressed gratitude for the hundred books donated by the Gyeonggi Library. These books will be incorporated into the Shanghai Library's dedicated collection for overseas donations, serving as "a new vehicle for cultural exchange between China and South Korea." Governor Kim Dong-yeon remarked that the visit to the Library East was highly rewarding and that he was deeply impressed by its significant achievements. He expressed his hope that this book donation would serve as the first seed for cultural exchange between the Gyeonggi Library and the Shanghai Library, and looked forward to more cooperation and exchanges with the Shanghai Library and other international libraries in the future. Subsequently, Governor Kim, representing the Gyeonggi Library, donated the books to the Shanghai Library. Deputy Director Xu Qiang accepted the donation on behalf of the Shanghai Library and presented a donation certificate to Governor Kim.
Following the ceremony, Deputy Director Xu accompanied Governor Kim and the delegation on a tour of the third-floor Korean-language book collection and other areas.
