On the morning of November 17, 2025, Mr. Alexander Lukin, Scientific Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia at the Russian Academy of Sciences, visited the Shanghai Library on Huaihai Road. He was accompanied by a delegation of three, including representatives from the Institute of China and Modern Asia and Mr. Sergey Grechishkin from NoniKo Nonferrous Metals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. Ms. Chen Linlin, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, received the guests in the VIP Room on the second floor.
The purpose of Mr. Alexander Lukin's visit was to further discuss and clarify details regarding the cooperative project with the Shanghai Library on the digitization of the library’s Russian documents and platform development. He also expressed his hope for further personnel exchanges in the future. Deputy Director Chen Linlin requested Mr. Han Chunlei, Director of the Digital Resource Center, to provide a general overview of the project. The project involves a vast quantity of documents. Currently, the document sorting work has officially commenced, and the digitization and platform development will proceed simultaneously. Deputy Director Chen Linlin emphasized that the Digital Resource Center should create a project timeline to keep the Russian side informed of the progress. She also expressed the hope that Mr. Lukin's research team could provide specific requirements, such as keywords of interest for searches and important time periods, so that the Digital Resource Center team could carry out the document sorting work in a more targeted manner. After the meeting, the Russian delegation of four, accompanied by staff members from the Digital Resource Center and the Cooperation and Exchange Office, visited Bibliotheca Zi-Ka-Wei, one of the repositories for the library’s Russian document collections.
