On the afternoon of December 19, 2025, Mr. Tomislav Tomašević, Mayor of Zagreb, Croatia, along with a delegation of six, visited the Shanghai Library East. Hou Yonggang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, extended a warm welcome to Mayor Tomašević and his delegation. Mayor Tomašević expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and spoke highly of the architecture of the Library East. He expressed hope that the libraries of the two cities would further strengthen cultural cooperation, deepen mutual understanding, and enhance the friendship between their peoples.
During the visit, Mayor Tomašević toured key areas of the Library East, including the first-floor atrium, the third-floor reading plaza, the fifth-floor Music Library, the seventh-floor Treasured Collections Library, and the reading promotion zone. The delegation also included MatejMišić, President of the Zagreb City Council also attended the event.
