On September 3, 2026, a delegation of four led by Mr. Thun-Yun Kao, Chairman of the Taiwan Academic Cultural and Educational Foundation of China, visited the Shanghai Library Chinese Genealogy Archives on Changle Road. Ms. Yang Chunhua, , Chairwoman of Shanghai Library Governing Board, received the delegation.
Mr. Thun-Yun Kao has long been committed to promoting cross-strait economic and cultural exchanges. He previously served as President of the Taiwan Academy of Commerce and Industry and Director of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei. The purpose of this visit to the Shanghai Library Chinese Genealogy Archives was to enhance the sharing of genealogical documents and collections across the strait, facilitate Taiwan compatriots in tracing their ancestral roots on the mainland, and advance the cultural integration between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. Mr. Chang Chung Chi, founder of the Sino-EzFree United Net, gave an introduction to the use of AI technology in processing digitized genealogical documents, with the goal of building a cloud-based family tree platform. Both sides expressed expectations for further cooperation in the development of genealogy databases and related areas.
On September 5, the delegation of four, led by Mr. Thun-Yun Kao, was invited to visit the Genealogy Theme Library at the Shanghai Library East. Deputy Director Xue Feng accompanied the delegation during the tour of the library and the subsequent discussion and exchange.
Ms. Helen, Executive Director of the Academic Cultural and Educational Foundation of China, and Mr. Deng Zhengheng, President of the Sino Xinhai Cultural Foundation, accompanied the delegation during their visit to the Shanghai Library.
