'Window of Shanghai' is a program of book donation launched by Shanghai Library with the support of Shanghai Government. It aims to open 'windows' in overseas libraries for friends abroad to 'see' China through these books.

A) To help overseas Chinese to maintain a close link with their motherland, its language and culture;
B) To meet the world's desire to learn more and better about China and Shanghai by providing the latest Chinese publications;
C) To promote Shanghai Library itself internationally and serve as a foundation for its other cooperation with overseas counterparts;

Usually 500 books would be donated in the first year and 100 annually in the next two. A memorandum of cooperation will be signed to ensure the success of the program. Increment of the donation and/or extension of cooperation can be discussed but based on assessment of Shanghai Library.
