(June 21, 2010) A delegation from Greek, as led by Ms. Louka Katseli, Greek Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping, visited Shanghai Library and attended the donation ceremony of an exhibit from ¡°Athens: Living History¡± Exhibition. The stele of Pentelic marble is a replica of the one found in the Acropolis with inscriptions circa 432/1 B.C.

The stele preserves parts of two amendments to a decree related to a public work, most probably the improvement of the water-supply system of Athens or the construction of the city¡¯s fountains. It used to be displayed in Epigraphic Museum, and now donated to Shanghai Library by Minister Katseli on behalf of the museum. Dr. Wu Jianzhong, director of Shanghai Library, received the valuable gift with great joy and showed the distinguished guests around inside the library.
